16LED board (birthdays · member of the day · old friends)

  1. After logging in, a black LED board sits at the top of the home page. The text scrolls sideways.
  2. Red line: notices and days left until the next event (D-day).
  3. Yellow line 🎂: members whose birthday is today.
  4. Green line ★ member of the day: one member each day, in turn. Everyone sees the same person, and once chosen it stays the same all day. Nobody repeats until everyone has had a turn.
  5. 🔗 Share today’s board: open the board and this button is at the top. It copies a link (on phones you can pick KakaoTalk right away) — paste it in the group chat every day. One link shows 🎂 birthdays · ★ member of the day · 💌 old friend · 🌰 new YB World photos (yesterday and today) · 📰 today’s news. The chat preview is a wide picture that doesn’t cut faces. For anyone who finds logging in a hassle, it opens without login, for that day only; the next day it shows an ‘expired link’ note and a new link is made. No phone, email, Kakao ID, birth year or comments are shown, and members who chose ‘leave me out’ don’t appear.
  6. 🌅 First guest of the day: the day resets at 6 a.m. Korea time (admins can change the hour in Site design › Home › 📟 LED board). The first member to open the home page after that gets a 🎉 pop-up: a congratulations by name, a thank-you, 💬 today’s words (a proverb or quote, different every day), and a request to post today’s board in the group chat. Press 📋 Copy for the group chat (today’s words + link + ‘today only, this chat only’ note) and paste it in the chat — the note closes by itself. For the rest of the day the note at the top of the home page is gone; open the board to see “○○ posted it, thank you!” under the share button. ‘Maybe later’ closes the pop-up and leaves the box on the home page. If nobody presses it, other members see a ‘please post it’ box too. Admins and the site builder don’t count as first guest; admins can turn the pop-up off.
  7. Sky-blue line 📷 N years ago today, YBLN: each day it picks a past YBLN event held on this date (±3 days) or in this month and shows its photos. Open the board to see a big photo; tap Next photo ▶ to flip through. See if you can spot yourself!
  8. Pink line 💌 old friend: a member we haven’t seen for a while. “How are you?” — let’s all say hello.
  9. Tap the board to open it. Tap again to close. It remembers how you left it.
  10. When open, you can leave a one-line 🎉 greeting · 👋 wave · 💌 hello. It is saved as a comment on that member’s profile. Once per person per day.
  11. The old friend card has KakaoTalk · call · email buttons (only the ones they have). The KakaoTalk button copies their ID.
  12. Each greeting is 1 point in the activity ranking. Whoever greets most this month becomes 🤝 Most friendly.
  13. Don’t want to appear? At the bottom of the open board, use ⚙ Leave me out to hide your birthday, or skip yourself as member of the day or old friend.
  14. 🎵 Retro music: tap ♪ Music at the top of the board for 8-bit arcade-style music. On a member’s birthday the Happy Birthday song plays first, then today’s 5 tunes take turns. They are picked from 17 classic and folk melodies (Ode to Joy, Für Elise, Turkish March, Canon, Greensleeves, etc.) and change every day. Tap ■ Stop to stop. Once turned on, it remembers and starts by itself the first time you tap the screen. If you come back to the page or return from another app, the sound pauses — tap the screen once and it plays again (iPhone too).
  15. While the music plays, the board sways left and right to each note. (It stays still if “reduce motion” is on in your phone settings.)
  16. The greeting boxes have quick buttons — tap one to send it right away, or type your own.
  17. The daily board link for the KakaoTalk room (opens without login) also shows birthdays, member of the day, old friends, 📷 N years ago today photos and new YB World posts.
